Upload the PDF bank statement to Ledgerpour
Drop in the statement downloaded from online banking. Text-based PDFs up to 25 MB.
Ledgerpour turns a PDF bank statement into a QBO file, the Web Connect format QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop import. Upload the PDF, download the QBO file and import it. No retyping and no column mapping.
A QBO file is the bank transaction file QuickBooks imports through Web Connect. It's built on the OFX standard and holds each transaction's date, amount, payee and a unique ID.
Some banks offer a download labeled "QuickBooks Web Connect". When you only have PDF statements, or the months you need are no longer available as a QBO download, Ledgerpour builds a QBO file from the PDF statement instead.
| In the QBO file | What it holds |
|---|---|
| DTPOSTED | Date the transaction posted |
| TRNAMT | Amount. Money out is negative |
| NAME / MEMO | Payee and description |
| FITID | Unique ID, to help QuickBooks detect repeats |
| LEDGERBAL | Closing balance on the statement |

Upload your text-based PDF bank statement to Ledgerpour. After conversion, choose QBO under Accounting exports on the results screen, generate the file and download it. Import the QBO file into QuickBooks and review the transactions. Your first 5 pages are free, with no card needed; generating the accounting export uses no extra pages.
It depends on the version. QuickBooks Online can now read a PDF statement you upload, as long as it is in English, and asks you to check the transactions side by side before saving. QuickBooks Desktop can’t read PDFs. It imports bank transactions as QBO (Web Connect) files, so convert the PDF to a QBO file first, then import it under File › Utilities › Import › Web Connect Files.
In QuickBooks Online, go to Transactions › Bank transactions, open the Link account ▾ menu and choose Upload from file. Select the QBO file, then pick the QuickBooks account it belongs to. The transactions land in the For review tab. Categorize or match each one, then add it to the books.
Convert the statement to QBO first. In QuickBooks Desktop, go to File › Utilities › Import › Web Connect Files and select the file. Choose the matching QuickBooks account. The transactions appear in the Bank Feeds center, where you match and add them. Web Connect needs a Desktop version that Intuit still supports.
Choose QBO for QuickBooks Web Connect. QuickBooks Online also accepts QFX and CSV; QuickBooks Desktop uses QBO for Web Connect imports. CSV uploads require column mapping. Ledgerpour supports QBO, QFX and CSV output; use the formats available for your completed conversion.
Check three things. Pick a QuickBooks account of the same type as the statement, such as a checking account for a checking statement. Don't open and resave the file in another program first. In QuickBooks Desktop, confirm your version still supports Web Connect. If a conversion fails on our side, the pages are refunded automatically.
Duplicates can occur. Transaction IDs help QuickBooks identify previously imported transactions, but they do not guarantee that every duplicate will be detected. Check overlapping dates, especially when a bank feed already includes the same period, and review the imported transactions before adding them to your books.
Not yet. Today you upload one statement at a time and download one QBO file for it. Batch upload is coming soon, for catch-up clients who arrive with a year of PDFs.
No. Ledgerpour does not sign in to QuickBooks or post transactions for you. Download the QBO export and import it into the account you choose. Review and accept the imported transactions in QuickBooks before adding them to the books.
Convert your first 5 pages free with Ledgerpour and import the QBO file yourself. No card needed.
